Effects of laser on subdermal fat tissueDr Geronemus
They found this technique to be safe and interesting associated with tumescent infiltration by peristaltic pump for areas that traditionally have difficulty in eliminating fat through conventional liposuction such back rolls, arms or gynaecomastia. The histological studies displayed small fat vessel coagulation, destruction of the adipose cells, reorganisation of the reticular dermis and fatty collagen coagulation, features that contribute to better postsurgical contraction of the area. It is difficult to quantify the amount of fat tissue destroyed, but its seems very effective for small areas where the irregularities or the lack of adequate scar contraction of the dermis and hypodermis could develop with poor results. It can be considered an adjuvant technique for large liposuctions in the surface and/or skin component, completed with negative conventional lipoaspiration for the elimination of large amounts of fat tissue.
