2.- Physical and mechanical treatments
Vacuum Therapy:
The application of massage using rollers while creating a vacuum focuses on mobilising the subcutaneous fat in the regions affected by cellulite. The patient is treated with a body mesh while the area with cellulite is trapped between the two rollers by simultaneous aspiration, applying an intense massage that is usually accompanied by improvement in the lymphatic return.
Liposuction:
Liposuction has been recognised as a major therapeutic alternative for Body Contouring and the correction of large volumes of lipodystrophic fat accumulation, although it is not recommended for the treatment of orange peel skin or cellulite. Ultrasound liposuction seems to provide a solution to this but the long term results have not been good, on occasion subsequent associated flaccidity has developed.
Gasparotti’s superficial liposuction (which could be equated with subcision to a certain extent) refines the cutaneous flap after lipo-evacuation and generates a subdermal irritant component that unchains a homogenous and aesthetic scarring contraction of the whole skin surface. It also unbridles the thicker septa that cause large depressions (in the buttocks, for example). Although it is not valid for treatment of the micro-septa proper of cellulite.
